Free chlamydia tests

The test for Chlamydia is simple – it's a free, quick and painless test that you can do yourself. You do not need to be examined!
It is available in a variety of different places including your GP, local pharmacist and contraceptive and sexual health service.
It is important to get tested yearly or when you change your sexual partner.
If you are 24 and under and live in Hertfordshire you can request a chlamydia home testing kit by texting the word HERTS followed by your age and postcode to: 88020. You will then receive a message that asks you if you are 16-24 years old. Please reply with the word YESHERTS, followed by a space, then your name, address and postcode.
If you are over 24 years you should get help and advice from a sexual health clinic as soon as possible. Home Testing Kit
If you are 24 and under and live in Hertfordshire you can request a chlamydia home testing kit by visiting: www.c-sure.org.uk.
We also have a TEXT service available for you to request a chlamydia home testing kit.
Text the word HERTS followed by your age and postcode to: 88020.
Packaging is plain and discreet. All you have to do is provide a urine or swab sample and post it back. Both the kit and postage are free so testing for chlamydia couldn't be easier!
Kits can take up to ten days to arrive. Results will be received within two weeks. The kit only tests for chlamydia.
Getting your test results
Your results should be ready in two weeks of the lab receiving your sample.
You will be sent a text, email or telephone message depending on what you said was the best way for us to contact you.
Texts that are negative results will say: "All is well, no need for further contact. C-Sure' – then telephone number 01727 897330 in case you have any questions.
If your test result is positive or unclear or we need to speak to you it will say 'Please call the health advisor on xxxxx xxxxxx'.
What if I am 25 or older?
If you are 25 and over you are not eligible to access our screening programme but you can still get tested. If you are sexually active it is important to get yourself checked out. Find out where your nearest sexual health clinic is and make an appointment. This service is free and totally confidential.
